My name is Rustie Anglin and I am a Digital Media Specialist. I have a Master of Arts in Strategic Communication from the University of Oklahoma, a Bachelor of Science in Strategic Communications from Oklahoma State University, and an Associate of Arts in Media Communication from Haskell Indian Nations University.
The summer after my freshman year I was selected for an archiving internship with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, where I compiled information regarding NASA’s involvement with Native Americans and tribal colleges.
Through my studies at OSU, I was able to volunteer my abilities for the City of Tulsa Pipes and Drums and the Oklahoma State University Pipes and Drums. I created and currently help manage the City of Tulsa Pipes and Drums website and social media.
I began graduate school at the University of Oklahoma in the Fall 2018 semester and I earned a Master of Arts with an emphasis in Strategic Communications from Gaylord College of Journalism. While earning my master’s I also helped as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. For my Master’s Project, I completed a Social Media Campaign for The City of Tulsa Pipes and Drums St. Patrick’s Day events.
I now work in the digital marketing sphere, where I excel in creating digital ads for Google and Facebook. I also collaborate with my team on our client’s social media accounts, writing blog posts and website copy. In addition to my marketing duties, I also perform admin support for one of our musical clients through organizing event prep, making merchandise arrangements, and communicating with venues as needed.
In the future, after I have worked in my field for a while I hope to go back to school to earn my doctoral degree. After earning my doctorate, I wish to go into a research or academic field and use the skills I have learned to teach others and impact students.
